 Gwangjang Market is a must-visit historic market located in Seoul, South Korea. 
It is one of the largest and oldest traditional markets in South Korea. There are more than 5000 shops with 20,000 employees. The market is open daily between 9 am – 11 pm.




 The market is renowned for its colorful stalls, vibrant atmosphere, and traditional Korean goods and especially wide variety of food. It is very famous for its street food, with small restaurants serving up popular Korean dishes such as mayak kimbap (literally "addictive rice rolls"), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes). Any of those are very delicious and have a great flavour. 

Must Try Food in Gwangjang Market


  • Tteokbokki: Spicy rice cakes which are cooked in a red sauce made with soy sauce, gochujang (red chili paste) and sugar. Tteokbokki is very popular street food snack in Korea.

  • Bindaetteok: Savory mung bean pancakes which are crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside. Often served with a soy sauce as a dipping sauce and sliced green onions in it.

  • Hotteok: Sweet Korean style pancakes filled with a mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped nuts. Hotteok also poopular street food snack, especially during the winter season.

  • Mayak kimbap: Which means "addictive rice rolls," are small rice rolls filled with ingredients like pickled radish, carrots and spinach. It finalise with the sesami and sesami-oil.


  • Kalguksu: Hot noodle soup dish made with handmade knife-cut noodles and a savory broth made with beef or chicken. It is a comforting and hearty dish that is perfect for winter season. 

Addition to Food



 Not only their food, Gwangjang Market also sells a range of silk scarves, traditional Korean  clothing, including hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) and embroidery. Visitors can meet many skilled artisans at work as they create beautiful handcrafted goods and visitors even try to make their own.
